10 dinosaur crafts for preschoolers, each with a picture and simple steps. Easy ideas for ages 3 to 5 using paper, paint, and glue.

Dinosaurs tend to arrive around age three and do not leave, and you may as well use them. Here are 10 dinosaur craft activities for preschoolers, each with a picture, the supplies, and the steps, from a handprint dinosaur to salt dough fossils and a pasta skeleton.

A three-year-old walks the toy dinosaurs through paint and across the paper, then across the table. A five-year-old lays out the pasta bones in order and builds the craft stick stegosaurus with plates along its back. Any week works, and the roaring comes free.

## Start here: three dinosaur crafts that always work

How to make it

1. Roll the salt dough flat and shape rough circles, each about the size of a jar lid.
2. Your child presses a small toy dinosaur on its side into one disc to leave a body-shaped hollow.
3. Press the feet of a toy dinosaur into the other discs to leave a line of prints.
4. Lift the toys off and let the discs dry hard.

[![Letter D dinosaur, an easy dinosaur craft for preschoolers ages 3 to 5](https://kindergarten-prep.com/hs-fs/hubfs/crafts/C067-2.webp?width=900&height=675&name=C067-2.webp)](https://kindergarten-prep.com/hubfs/crafts/C067-2.webp)

## Dinosaur crafts for 3 year olds

These 3 need no exact cutting and no small pieces, so a young three can do most of it alone: [Tissue paper dinosaur](https://kindergarten-prep.com/blog/dinosaur-crafts-for-preschoolers#c071), [Dinosaur footprint painting](https://kindergarten-prep.com/blog/dinosaur-crafts-for-preschoolers#c065), [Block stamped dinosaur](https://kindergarten-prep.com/blog/dinosaur-crafts-for-preschoolers#c064).

## Dinosaur crafts with a 3 year old: what to expect

The toy dinosaurs the child already owns are the best supply here. Wash them after the footprint painting and the fossil pressing; paint comes off plastic in warm water.

A three year old can stamp with blocks, scrunch tissue paper and walk dinosaurs through paint. Cutting the spikes, tail and head for the paper plate dinosaur and the tube dinosaur is your job, then the child glues.

Say the sound as you go: d, d, dinosaur. The letter D dinosaur is the one to pair with the letter of the week, and the pasta skeleton is good for counting bones out loud.

Salt dough fossils take a day or two to dry hard, so make them on a weekend. The stegosaurus and tube dinosaur stand up and join the toy bin; the rest go on the wall.

## What you need for dinosaur crafts

Most of these use the same handful of supplies: googly eye, green paint, white paper, glue, black marker, green construction paper, orange paper, small toy dinosaur. Everything else is named on the craft it belongs to.
