Letter P pig The child glues a pink P to paper and adds triangle ears, a snout, eyes and a curly tail to make a pig. **You need:** light pink paper, dark pink paper, 2 googly eyes, 1 pink pipe cleaner, black marker, glue stick, 1 sheet of white paper How to make it 1. You cut a big capital P from light pink paper, 2 triangle ears and 1 oval snout from dark pink. 2. Your child glues the P upright on the white sheet, then the 2 ears on the top edge. 3. Glue the snout on the round part, add 2 dots with the marker, and glue the 2 eyes right above it. 4. Twist the pipe cleaner into a curl and glue it at the bottom of the stem as a tail. Painted flower pot The child paints or fingerprints a small terracotta pot and plants a flower or seeds in it as a gift. **You need:** 1 small terracotta pot, paint in a few colours, potting soil How to make it 1. Your child paints the outside of the pot. Let it dry. 2. Press fingertip dots around the side in other colours. 3. When dry, fill the pot with soil up to below the rim. Handprint penguin The child prints or traces a black hand as the penguin body, then adds a white belly, eyes, beak and feet. **You need:** black paint, white paper, 2 small googly eyes, orange paper, glue, light blue paper How to make it 1. Paint your child's hand black. Press it in the middle of the paper with the fingers together pointing up and the thumb out to the side. Let it dry. 2. You cut a small white oval and glue it on the palm as the belly. 3. Glue the 2 eyes on the fingers above the belly. Cut a small orange triangle and glue it below them as a beak. 4. Cut 2 small orange feet and glue them right below the palm. Wash and dry the mini pumpkin. 2. Your child paints thick patches and stripes over the top and sides. 3. Leave the stem bare. 4. Let it dry before touching. You cut 2 half circles from white paper. Glue them behind the top rim, one on each side, as ears. 2. Your child glues about 20 cotton balls all over the front of the plate. 3. Glue the 2 eyes on the plate in the upper half. 4. Glue the black pom pom in the middle as a nose. Your child colours the sticks with markers. 2. Glue the 4 sticks into a square with the ends overlapping at the corners. 3. Stick hearts on the sticks. 4. Glue the white square with the drawing behind the frame. Handprint pumpkin An orange handprint or fist print becomes a pumpkin with a stem and vine added. **You need:** 1 sheet of white paper, orange paint, green marker How to make it 1. Paint your child's hand orange. Press it in the middle of the sheet with the fingers together pointing down and the palm at the top. 2. Let it dry. 3. Draw a short thick green stem coming up out of the palm. 4. Add a curly vine off the stem. Nothing matches that filter. Clear it and try again. ## Letter P crafts for 3 year olds One of these a young three can do almost alone: [Painted mini pumpkin](https://kindergarten-prep.com/blog/letter-p-crafts-for-preschoolers#c199). No exact cutting, no small pieces, and the glue stick does the rest. ## Pigs, pumpkins and penguins with a 3 year old The painted mini pumpkin is the one for a three year old: a real pumpkin on a tray, a few brushes or dot stickers, and no drying rack needed. It sits on the step for the whole of October. For the letter P pig, cut a pink P, two triangles and a circle. The child glues the ears on the bump of the letter, the snout in the middle, and curls a strip of paper around a pencil for the tail. Say p, p, pig with a puff of air on the back of the hand. The paper plate polar bear is cotton balls or torn white paper and glue, a three alone. The handprint penguin and handprint pumpkin need a helper for the pressing and lifting, and the belly and beak go on once the black is dry. The painted flower pot and the craft stick photo frame are the two gifts here. Plant seeds in the pot a few weeks before Mother's Day, and back the frame with a photo of the child.
