Letter Y yarn The child squeezes glue over a big Y and presses on snipped pieces of yarn until it is covered. **You need:** yellow construction paper, yarn, white paper, white glue How to make it 1. You cut a large capital Y from yellow paper. Your child glues it upright on the white sheet. 2. Snip the yarn into short pieces. 3. Your child squeezes white glue over the letter. 4. Your child presses the yarn pieces onto the glue, covering both arms and the stem. Yellow collage The child tears yellow papers and sticks on yellow bits and pieces to fill a sheet with one colour. **You need:** white paper, yellow construction paper, yellow tissue paper, yellow dot stickers, glue stick How to make it 1. Your child tears yellow paper into pieces. 2. Glue them all over the white paper, some overlapping. 3. Scrunch tissue pieces and glue them on top, in the gaps. 4. Stick the yellow dots across the sheet. No exact cutting, no small pieces, and the glue stick does the rest. ## Yarn, glue and yellow paper with a 3 year old The yellow collage is low-prep. Put out yellow paper, a few yellow stickers, a yellow bottle cap or two and a glue stick, and a three year old fills the sheet alone. Everything on the sheet is one color, which is the point. For the letter Y yarn craft, snip the yarn first. A five year old can cut it with child scissors, a three year old will need the pieces ready. Squeeze the glue yourself and let your child press the yarn down. Say the sound at the start of each word, yarn, yellow, yes, and let your child trace the Y with a finger before it gets covered.
