Ocean Week lands in summer at most preschools and the week after a beach trip at home, when there is still sand in the car. Here are 19 ocean crafts for preschoolers, each with a picture, the supplies, and the steps.

A three-year-old dots half a plate with markers and tapes ribbon tentacles under it, and that is the jellyfish. A five-year-old weaves paper strips through the sea turtle shell and blows the whale's spout through a straw, which gets paint on the chin. Sharks are the most requested.

## Start here: three ocean crafts that always work

## Ocean crafts for toddlers: the 1 a young three can do

These 1 need no exact cutting and no small pieces, so a young three can do most of it alone: [Paper plate jellyfish](https://kindergarten-prep.com/blog/ocean-crafts-for-preschoolers#c136).

## Ocean crafts with a 3 year old: paint, tape, tentacles

Blue and gray paint on a plate, a sponge brush and a tray is the whole setup for most of this list. Paint the plates first thing, dry, then glue the fins, tails and eyes on later in the day.

A three year old can paint, dot, press bubble wrap and tape ribbon tentacles. Cutting the shark mouth, the wedge for the rainbow fish and the octopus legs is your part; weaving the turtle shell is for a five year old.

Blow painting the whale spout is the one to try outside or over a tray. A watery drop of paint and a short straw; the child blows up and away, not down, or the paint comes back.

Hang the jellyfish from the ceiling so the tentacles move. The shark suncatcher goes in a window. The rest line up on a blue paper strip on the wall as an ocean.

## What you need for ocean crafts

Most of these use the same handful of supplies: glue, googly eye, blue paper, white paper plate, paper plate, black marker, white paper, green paper. Everything else is named on the craft it belongs to.
