You cut orange triangles. 3. Rub glue stick on the back of the plate rim and press the triangles on from underneath, with the point sticking out as a ray. 4. Your child draws 2 dot eyes and a curved smile in the middle. Handprint **You need:** white cardstock, orange paint, yellow paint How to make it 1. Your child paints an orange circle about the size of a jar lid in the middle of the cardstock. Let it dry. 2. Paint your child's hand yellow. 3. Press 5 handprints around the circle, with each palm touching the circle and fingers pointing out. 4. Let it dry flat. Clear it and try again. ## Sun crafts for 3 year olds These 1 need no exact cutting and no small pieces, so a young three can do most of it alone: [Paper plate sun](https://kindergarten-prep.com/blog/sun-crafts-for-preschoolers#c254). ## Sun crafts with a 3 year old: yellow paint and rays Yellow paint and a paper plate is the start for two of these. Paint both plates at once, dry, then do the rays. The suncatcher has no paint at all. A three can paint the plate, glue pre-cut rays and press tissue squares onto contact paper. Cutting out handprints is an adult job, and so is the card's photo center. Count the rays as they go on, and try to space them evenly around the rim. A five year old can place them first and glue second. The suncatcher goes in a window. The handprint card is a Mother's Day or grandparent present, and the paper plate sun goes on the wall for the summer. ## What you need for sun crafts Most of these use the same handful of supplies: white paper plate, yellow poster paint, glue, orange paper, black marker, glue stick, yellow and orange paper, yellow paper.
