Easy ideas for ages 3 to 5 using paper, paint, and glue. [Kindergarten Prep Team](https://kindergarten-prep.com/blog/author/kindergarten-prep-team) Oct 14, 2026 --- A sunflower is the flower a child can draw from memory: brown circle, yellow all around, a stem. Here are four takes on the sunflower craft preschool rooms make in late summer, with pictures, supplies, and steps, from crumpled paper to a paper plate with real seeds. A three-year-old crumples yellow paper and glues it on. A five-year-old snips petals around the plate rim and presses seeds into the glue one at a time. Late August is sunflower season, when the real ones stand taller than the child. ## Start here: three sunflower crafts that always work [![Crumpled paper sunflower, an easy sunflower craft for preschoolers ages 3 to 5](https://kindergarten-prep.com/hs-fs/hubfs/crafts/C258-3.webp?width=900&height=675&name=C258-3.webp)**Crumpled paper sunflower***Crumple yellow paper, glue, done*](https://kindergarten-prep.com/blog/sunflower-crafts-for-preschoolers#c258)[![Paper plate sunflower, an easy sunflower craft for preschoolers ages 3 to 5](https://kindergarten-prep.com/hs-fs/hubfs/crafts/C260-1.webp?width=900&height=675&name=C260-1.webp)**Paper plate sunflower***Yellow plate, real seeds in the middle*](https://kindergarten-prep.com/blog/sunflower-crafts-for-preschoolers#c260)[![Handprint sunflower, an easy sunflower craft for preschoolers ages 3 to 5](https://kindergarten-prep.com/hs-fs/hubfs/crafts/C259-2.webp?width=900&height=675&name=C259-2.webp)**Handprint sunflower***Yellow handprints in a circle*](https://kindergarten-prep.com/blog/sunflower-crafts-for-preschoolers#c259) All 4 Easy for 3 year olds No paint ## 4 sunflower crafts for preschoolers, with pictures [![Paper plate sunflower, an easy sunflower craft for preschoolers ages 3 to 5](https://kindergarten-prep.com/hs-fs/hubfs/crafts/C260-1.webp?width=900&height=675&name=C260-1.webp)](https://kindergarten-prep.com/hubfs/crafts/C260-1.webp) ### 1. No exact cutting, no small pieces, and the glue stick does the rest. ## Sunflower crafts: yellow paint, seeds and a 3 year old Start with the crumpled paper sunflower. Tear yellow paper into pieces, scrunch, glue inside a circle, brown in the middle. No scissors, no paint. Real sunflower seeds in the center of the plate sunflower need white glue, not a stick. Spread a thick layer and let your child press the seeds in. Count them as they go. The handprint sunflower takes four to six yellow handprints arranged in a circle. Brush the paint on, press, turn the paper, press again. Add the brown center last. Coffee filters bleed, so color them with washable markers, spray with water on a tray, and dry on a towel. Then glue a brown circle in the middle and a green stem.
