Arctic facts to share while you work

  • Polar bear fur is not white, it is clear. Their skin underneath is black.
  • Penguins do not live in the Arctic. They live in the far south, so a polar bear and a penguin never meet.
  • A narwhal's tusk is really a very long tooth.
  • Walruses use their tusks to pull themselves up onto the ice.
  • An arctic fox's coat turns white in winter and brown in summer.
  • Seals breathe air, so they keep holes open in the ice.

Talking during the worksheet builds vocabulary and keeps a preschooler at the table longer. Ask which picture on the page is their favourite and why.
