5 Bunny Crafts for Preschoolers (Easy, Low Prep)
5 bunny craft ideas for preschoolers, with a picture of each. Easy paper plate, handprint, and Easter bunny crafts for ages 3 to 5.
Long ears and a cotton ball tail turn anything into a bunny, and a paper plate with paper ears is the bunny craft preschool classes make before Easter. Here are five bunny crafts for preschoolers, each with a picture, the supplies, and the steps.
Bunnies fit spring and the run-up to Easter. A three-year-old dabs paint with a clipped pom-pom around a bunny shape and lifts it to find the bunny. A five-year-old cuts the ears for the toilet paper roll bunny and makes a footprint carrot.
Start here: three bunny crafts that always work
5 bunny crafts for preschoolers, with pictures
1. Paper plate bunny
The child turns a paper plate into a bunny face with paper ears, a pom pom nose, whiskers and googly eyes.
You need: 1 small white paper plate, white and pink construction paper, 2 googly eyes, 1 pink pom pom, 4 short black pipe cleaner pieces, glue
How to make it
- You cut 2 long white ears and 2 smaller pink centers.
- Your child glues each pink center on a white ear. Glue the ears behind the top rim, side by side.
- Glue 2 eyes in the upper middle and the pom pom nose in the center.
- Glue 2 black whiskers on each side of the nose.
2. Toilet paper roll bunny
The child paints or wraps a cardboard tube white, then glues on paper ears, a face and a cotton ball tail.
You need: 1 toilet paper roll, white paint, white and pink construction paper, 2 googly eyes, 1 white cotton ball, black marker, glue
How to make it
- Your child paints the roll white. Stand it upright to dry.
- You cut 2 long white ears and 2 smaller pink centers. Glue the pink on the white, then glue the ears inside the top edge at the front.
- Stick on 2 eyes, then glue a small pink triangle nose below them. Draw 2 whiskers on each side of the nose.
- Glue the cotton ball low on the back as a tail.
3. Pom pom painted bunny
The child dabs paint with a clipped pom pom all over or around a bunny shape; the bunny appears when it is lifted.
You need: white cardstock, scrap paper, pink, purple and light blue paint, pom poms, clothespin
How to make it
- You cut a bunny head with 2 long ears from scrap paper and lay it in the middle of the cardstock.
- Pinch a pom pom in a clothespin. Your child dips it in paint and dabs it over the whole sheet, edge to edge, right over the bunny paper. Keep your finger on the bunny to keep it in one place.
- Lift the scrap paper off. A white bunny head shows in the middle of the color.
4. Footprint carrot
The child makes an orange footprint and adds green handprint, fingerprint or torn paper leaves at the heel.
You need: white paper, orange paint, green construction paper, glue
How to make it
- Paint your child's foot orange.
- Press it in the middle of the white paper with the heel at the top and the toes pointing down.
- Your child tears green strips.
- Glue them at the top of the heel, fanning upward as the carrot leaves.
5. Paper bag bunny puppet
The child glues ears, eyes, nose, teeth and whiskers onto a paper lunch bag to make a hand puppet.
You need: 1 brown paper lunch bag, white and pink construction paper, 2 googly eyes, 1 pink pom pom, 4 short white pipe cleaner pieces, glue
How to make it
- Lay the folded bag flat with the bottom flap at the top as the face.
- You cut 2 long white ears and 2 smaller pink centers. Your child glues the pink on the white, then glues the ears behind the top edge of the flap.
- Glue 2 eyes and the pom pom nose on the flap, with 2 white whiskers on each side of the nose.
- Glue 2 small white rectangles side by side under the flap edge as teeth.
Nothing matches that filter. Clear it and try again.
Easy bunny craft preschool: the 1 a young three can do
These 1 need no exact cutting and no small pieces, so a young three can do most of it alone: Pom pom painted bunny.
How to make a bunny craft with a 3 or 4 year old
Cut the ears first, two long ovals, and the rest is gluing. The pom pom painted bunny needs a bunny shape taped down and a clothespin pom pom, nothing else.
A three can dab the pom pom bunny and glue a face on the paper bag puppet. Painting the tube and the orange footprint need an adult to hold and press.
Make them in the two weeks before Easter so they are dry for the table. The pom pom bunny is the one for the youngest child in a mixed group.
The paper plate bunny goes on the door. The tube bunny sits in an Easter basket, and the puppet comes out at story time.
What you need for bunny crafts
Most of these use the same handful of supplies: glue, white and pink construction paper, googly eye, pink pom pom, white paper plate, short black pipe cleaner piece, toilet paper roll, white paint. Everything else is named on the craft it belongs to.
