Letter H crafts for 3 year olds

One of these a young three can do almost alone: Tissue paper heart suncatcher. No exact cutting, no small pieces, and the glue stick does the rest.

Houses, hearts and handprints: setting up letter H crafts

The tissue paper heart suncatcher is the no-glue one. Tape contact paper sticky side up to the table, cut a heart frame from card, and the child presses pink and red squares on. It goes straight in the window.

For the letter H house, cut or draw a big H and a triangle. The child glues the roof across the top and fills the two gaps with a door and windows. Say h, h, house, a puff of air on the hand, as each window goes on.

Salt dough is flour, salt and water kneaded on the counter, then a hand pressed in flat. Bake it low and slow or leave it to dry for a few days before painting. Write the date on the back. The fingerprint heart card is the quick gift if there is no time for dough.

The heart name craft goes on the bedroom door. The hibernating animal puppets live in a shoebox den for winter play, and the striped Cat in the Hat hat goes to school for a book character day.
