4 Letter J Crafts for Preschoolers (Easy, Low Prep)

4 letter J crafts for preschoolers with pictures, from jellyfish to jars. Easy ideas for ages 3 to 5 that build letter recognition.

Half a paper plate with ribbon hanging off it is a jellyfish, about the right size of craft for a wet Tuesday. Here are four letter J crafts for preschoolers, with pictures, supplies, and steps: three are jellyfish.

A three-year-old presses dot markers and tapes on ribbon tentacles. A five-year-old cuts wavy tentacles and glues them in a row. They fit the week of J or an ocean week, and the jack-o'-lantern waits for October.

Letter J crafts for 3 year olds

Two of these a young three can do almost alone: Paper plate jellyfish, Cupcake liner jellyfish. No exact cutting, no small pieces, and the glue stick does the rest. For the others, you cut and they glue.

Jellyfish three ways with a 3 year old

The paper plate jellyfish is the one to start with: half a plate, dot markers, googly eyes and a handful of ribbon or yarn pieces cut to a hand's length. A three does all of it. Tape the tentacles on from the back.

The cupcake liner jellyfish is even less: one liner, a glue stick, blue paper and a marker for the tentacles. Make a few and hang them in a row at the window so they look like they are floating.

For the letter J jellyfish, cut a J and a bowl of tissue squares. The child covers the letter, you poke the pom pom bell on top with eyes, and the wavy tentacles hang from the hook of the J. Say j, j, jellyfish as the tissue goes on.

The paper plate jack-o-lantern waits for October. Make it the week of J anyway if the child asks, and call it a jack-o-lantern out loud, j, j, every time.
