4 Name Crafts for Preschoolers (Easy Ideas)

4 name crafts for preschoolers, each with a picture and simple steps. Easy ideas for ages 3 to 5 using paper, paint and glue.

A child's name is the first word they read, and the first they write, and the letter order is the lesson. Here are four name crafts for preschoolers, each with a picture, the supplies, and the steps: spelling the name on hearts, a turkey, or an apple.

These follow the calendar. The apple name craft is in September, the turkey feathers in November, and the coconut tree whenever the alphabet book comes out. A three-year-old matches letters to a card you wrote. A five-year-old writes them and notices when one is missing.

Name crafts with a 3 year old: letters in order

Write the name on a strip of paper first, in capitals, and tape it above the work. Write one letter per circle, heart or feather yourself for a three. Let a four or five copy them.

A three can tear the coconut tree paper, glue each piece and match letters to the strip. Cutting hearts and feathers is an adult job, so cut them the night before.

Say each letter name as it goes on, and the first one louder. Then run a finger under the finished name and read it together.

Hang the finished name on the bedroom door at child height, where they walk past it. Long names look good on the coconut tree, since the letters climb.

What you need for name crafts

Most of these use the same handful of supplies: black marker, glue stick, brown paper, white paper, coloured paper, red paper, green paper, long strip of white paper. Everything else is named on the craft it belongs to.
